Though he’s not in line for the throne, he has been blessed with a name fit for a King. Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Archie is a shortened form of Archibald, a name not commonly heard today that means genuine and bold. Harrison? That’s easy—Son of Harry.
Meghan Markle and hubby Harry, otherwise known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcomed their son into the world Monday morning, the 6th of May at 5:26.
Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, was reportedly present following the birth. Within hours of the newest Royal’s arrival, commentary by the press and Royal aides, as well as that of Doria, suggested Meghan might have Bittner at home. By Monday evening, reports were swirling suggesting hospital birth was the way this little man came into the world. Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm those details either way.
Much conjecture has been raised over the course of Meghan’s pregnancy regarding her birthing desires.
At an annual summit for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, it was noted that many US-based birth professionals turned their nose up at the idea of a doula and midwife supporting The Duchess during a home birth.
Ideals regarding birthing rights and beliefs of safety are stark between the US and the UK. But the safety data is on the side of home birthing mothers, regardless of American doctors’ attitudes.
Many insinuated she would be taking fierce risks with royal blood by bearing a child at home, despite the repeated studies that have shown home birth bears no great risk for low-risk pregnancies such as Meghan’s.
The new parents introduced baby Archie to his Great Grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen earlier this morning.
